FC St. Gallen was founded on 19 April 1879. This makes it the oldest surviving football team in Switzerland and the European mainland. Its first team currently plays in the Raiffeisen Super League. Its home stadium is the “kybunpark”, the multifunctional stadium which seats a total of 19,568 spectators. The FCSG has twice been the Swiss champion (1904 and 2000). In 1969, it won the Swiss Cup and in 1978 the Liga Cup.
